As faithful readers know, the Perry Wellness Center extended family includes peers, staff, and even pets. One lucky animal who now makes his home on campus is Smokey the cat.
Some years ago, longtime peers Robert and Daisy Bell made a home for Smokey in their apartment. However, because of a move and other changes, they were no longer able to care for Smokey at home. Their beloved pet has now been adopted by the PWC family and makes its home at Rudy’s Happy Patch Market.
“We are a family,” Daisy Bell explains. “We love our Smokey, and we are together at Perry Wellness Center.”
She continues, “Wherever we go, we must take our feline love with us. She is no trouble. We feed and water her as if she was in our apartment. When not in a group or other activity at the center, the Bells often sit with Smokey in an area adjacent to the pavilion and gardens of the campus.
Being a member of the Perry Wellness Center family means looking out for each other when difficult circumstances arise.
