Last night, a large group of visitors joined the clients and staff of Perry Wellness Center for its annual “Cheer Up the Blues” open house. The event serves to remind the public of the reality of depression during the holidays, while creating a night of celebration for the Christmas season.
Thursday’s damp, cool weather didn’t stop people from stopping by for a cup of hot cocoa, a visit with Santa and Frosty the Snowman, or the enjoyment of live Christmas music. Rudy’s Happy Patch Market was alight with decorated Christmas trees and booths with seasonal items for sale. Many stopped by to snap a photo of the Frosty the Snowman float, which won first place in last week’s downtown Americus Christmas parade.
Stuart Perry extended his appreciation for all who came by the center to share the joys of the season. “We appreciate the support of our community throughout the year,” he noted, “But it is especially meaningful during the holiday season. Our open house is one way of giving thanks to a community that supports our mission and the entire Perry Wellness Center family.”
