The Scent of Christmas
Amid all the flowers, shrubbery, trees, and crops that flourish on the grounds of Perry Wellness Center, many varieties of spices are also cultivated. They provide delicious seasoning for food and luscious scents. Each spice has a specific harvest time, and a universal favorite is being gathered in late December.
Staff member Jamie Minick explains, “With the Christmas season, rosemary seems to be very popular. The smell of the plant reminds many of the season. I gathered some today to use in Rudy’s Happy Patch Market.”
In the photo above, she gathers stems of fresh rosemary for a fragrant display in the market. And yes, the scent of Christmas is definitely in the air!
