Night to ShineTwo Perry Wellness Center peers recently had their own special night to shine when they attended the fourth annual Night to Shine gala. First Baptist Church of Americus organized the February 8 event for the local community, under the sponsorship of the Tim Tebow Foundation.

The football great established the event to honor people with special needs, ages 16 and older, who may not have experienced a similar event in their lifetimes. As other such events around the country have done, this year’s local event created a “prom night” experience for participants.

The evening provided a literal red-carpet entrance for individuals, complete with a limousine ride, throng of fans and paparazzi, and waiting hair and makeup stations and shoe shining areas. Upon arrival, each guest received either a crown or a tiara, representing the message that they are all kings and queens. The highlight of the event was on the dance floor, where participants in their evening finery danced to music with other guests.

This year’s local Night to Shine welcomed a total of 116 guests and over 500 volunteers for a glamorous evening of fun and the making of many happy memories. PWC participants Tyshaun Thomas and Mary Green shared their own memories of the event and proudly displayed their photographs from the special night.

Our thanks to First Baptist Church and the legion of local volunteers who help support the dreams of many deserving individuals.
