According to the old rhyme, April showers bring May flowers. But someone forgot to add a verse about a less welcome gift they also bring. The Perry Wellness Center campus is full of blossoming flowers, bushes, and trees. But the awakened grass is also home to a variety of fast-growing weeds.
The appearance of these uninvited guests has been a call to action for staff and volunteer peers, who are committed to maintaining an attractive environment for all. The lawn maintenance schedule has been increased, as crews tackle even the least visible parts of the sprawling campus.
Perry Wellness Center founder and CEO Stuart Perry explains, “We all have to do our part to take care of the campus. When he’s not driving of helping with other chores, staff member Bob Ledbetter works to help maintain our campus appearance.”
Being an effective weed stalker takes an eagle eye, dedication, and a strong back, and Ledbetter is up to the task. In the photo above, he trims nuisance weeds near a display pavilion in the park.
