At Rudy’s Happy Patch Market, fresh peas are a big customer favorite. Recent visitor Johnny Nipper is a staff and peer favorite. Coincidence? Considering Nipper is the primary provider of peas for the market, we don’t think so!
The Ashburn, Georgia farmer explained, “I grow eight types of peas on 73 acres.” He shares credit for this accomplishment: “God provides the rain.”
Stuart Perry was particularly glad to see a favored friend and vendor. “We are glad that we met Johnny Nipper, our ‘Pea Man,’” Stuart noted. “I am impressed with his work ethic. He is 80+ years old and has a great attitude. He enjoys hard work and has always been able to provide peas at a great price. I am happy to see him on campus.”
Nipper reflected, “I have been growing and furnishing peas for Happy Patch for over two years.” Although pleased with the account, he added, “The dry, hot weather has not been good to us. Most recently, I lost 500 rows of white peas.”
But the optimistic farmer concluded, “We will be okay as our provider name spreads.”
Word of mouth from faithful market customers will undoubtedly help that process. Thanks, Mr. Nipper, for hanging in there with being a great market provider!
