This week at Perry Wellness Center began with a Monday morning current events and information sharing group. This group serves as an opportunity to catch up after the weekend and share events from their own lives.
Monday morning’s group began with a prayer, led by peer Sherry R. Her prayer set an inspirational tone for the morning, which became a time of positive sharing.
Many peers had attended the Plains Peanut Festival over the weekend and compared notes about their time there. Several were pleased with the many free gifts that were offered at the fair.
Another peer, Brian T., shared his progress toward a lifelong goal of becoming a fire fighter. He had recently been invited to apply at the Rucker Street office of the local fire department.
As the group progressed, other exciting news was shared among peers and staff. Certified peer specialist Brittany McCumber led the group, and was pleased to hear the level of positive sharing.
“It is exciting to hear good news about the most recent weekend,” she said. “I think that Sherry’s prayer set the pace for the group. Sharing good news is important to all of us.”
