Meal deliveryFor local Perry Wellness Center peers, the temporary closure of the center means a loss of two meals served each day in the cafeteria. To ensure peers’ nutrition, a hot lunch is being delivered daily to Americus clients. Approximately 40 meals are delivered each day. The vans that normally pick up peers are now cleaned and fitted with containers for delivery of the plates to peers during the shutdown.

Staff member Arthur Patillo explains, “We prepare our usual menu of meat, fresh vegetables, and bread for these peers. They miss us and we miss them. This is our way of continuing the concern for these individuals.”

On a recent day, Arthur was found filling plates with pork chops, fresh peas and beans, and rolls before they were delivered to local peers.
