Local psychiatrist Kenneth DiNella, M.D. has been affiliated with Perry Wellness Center since it was located in its original location on the Plains Highway. More than a decade later, Dr. DiNella continues his association with the center, serving as its Medical Director.

With over 30 years of professional experience, Dr. DiNella specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses, such as depression, anxiety disorders, and schizophrenia, as well as substance abuse. As with most psychiatrists, he relies upon a mix of medications and psychotherapy for patient care. In addition to Perry Wellness Center, he is also affiliated with Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center and Crisp Regional Hospital and consults with organizations throughout the area.

Assisted by clinical staff member Jackie Teasley, LPC, EPS, CPRP, Dr. DiNella evaluates new peers entering the program and monitors all peers on an ongoing basis. The pair evaluates progress on individuals in their plans of recovery, and he assesses medication and other health issues as needed.

"We do this together and evaluate our findings after each of his visits," Jackie Teasley explains. 

In this new year, Dr. DiNella is working on his own goals as well. As part of a personal wellness goal, he recently arrived on campus on his bicycle. 

“I had other stops at the post office, my office, and other sites,” he noted. “I like to ride my bike but have to be careful with early morning rides. Some drivers fail to see me.”
