When a peer member of Perry Wellness Center is out sick, individual peers may contact them, and they are welcomed back enthusiastically by the group. But recently a few peers came up with the idea for a project that would help them send good wishes in a meaningful way.
Certified peer specialist Sara Teal explained that on Monday, the peers learned that one of the members was ill. “In our group, we discussed the importance of the conditions of other peers and staff,” Sarah said. “Two of the peers asked me to plan a project to create ‘get well’ cards to present to the ill peer.”
Sara is never at a loss herself for creative projects for peers who attend the center. But she was pleased that peers had taken the initiative to come up with this idea, and she readily assisted them.
That’s all part of being a member of the Perry Wellness Center family!
