If it takes a village to raise a child, it sometimes takes a recovery center to support fellow peers and staff. The following illustrates the value of mutual support, as well as “paying it forward”:
Staff member Brittany McCumbry recently contacted Kelvin Mullins (pictured), a peer friend at Perry Wellness Center, to help her with her move to another location in Americus. After the move, Brittany presented Kelvin with her all-terrain bike, so that he would have a better ride.
Kelvin summarizes, “I helped Brittany move, and she gave me a bike – a nice bike! She was kind to give this to me for my help.”
In his enthusiasm, Kelvin immediately began checking the bike, doing some routine maintenance, and cleaning and polishing the tires. Before he took his first ride on his new, proud possession, he wanted everything to be perfect. And it was!
Thanks, Brittany and Kelvin for reminding us to both volunteer our assistance and to pass on our blessings.
