Anyone who knows Stuart Perry or his family is aware that honoring the family legacy is important to all. For generations, the extended family has been involved in the gas and oil business. The current location of Perry Wellness Center sits on the former site of Perry Brothers Oil Company, Inc., a leading distributor for oil, gas, tires, and other automotive needs throughout Southwest Georgia.
So, when Rudy’s Happy Patch Market relocated to a new spot on the PWC campus, it seemed only fitting that the market’s historic metal “Standard Oil Dealer” sign found pride of place. After being cleaned and polished, it was mounted in a new lighted display space in Happy Patch.
In tracking down the history of the sign, Perry Brothers’ Steve Perry shared the following: “Stuart’s dad, Tom, was a Standard Oil dealer originally. This is the sign that was used at stations and country stores. The Standard Oil name was later changed to Chevron.”
The sign now serves as a reminder of Stuart’s childhood at his father’s service station, and the continued, growing legacy of the Perry Brothers family-owned and run business.
