Thanksgiving may only come once per year, but each day at Perry Wellness Center is a lesson in gratitude. As peers help peers in recovery, each member learns to give thanks for the day ahead and to appreciate the support they receive.
This year the center paid special tribute for the season. Its dining tables were filled with Southern delicacies, including many locally grown menu items. Fried chicken, dressing and gravy, collards, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad were served in the manner cafeteria manager Kelly Jansen describes as "traditional foods with a fun flare." All we know is that it was delicious. The sumptuous meal ended with a variety of desserts, including peach cobbler and both sweet potato and pecan pie.
Stuart Perry, as always, used mealtime as an opportunity for sharing both good food and conversation.
