On an unseasonably cool day like today, nothing is more popular on the campus of Perry Wellness Center than the fire box pit. Designed and constructed by artist and designer Jeff Williams, it has been a peer gathering spot for several years.

Today, peer Awan Smith, pictured above, is combining the comforting warmth of a fire with some preparations for spring. A gathered pile of trimmed vines and limbs stoke the pit. Soon the spot will welcome peers during breaks from groups and other indoor activities. In the meantime, Awan fuels the fire box with another load of yard debris.
