Although James Goss has relied upon a wheelchair for many years, his disability does not stop him from maintaining a high productivity level at Perry Wellness Center. Working alongside peer friend Connie Rutherford and other peers and staff, he puts in his best efforts around Rudy’s Happy Patch Market or elsewhere on campus.
“Whether I am a clerk in the market or on the Perry Wellness Center campus,” James says, “I try to do my best as Stuart Perry would do. I may need my wheelchair to get around, but I have learned to pace myself and plan my turns and movement.”
However much he has achieved mobility and relative independence, James still maintains the goal of stepping out of his chair someday. He states, “I am trying to find a way to celebrate and be rid of the chair. I want to!”
We salute this gentleman for his dedication and commitment, both to his work and to his personal recovery.
