The campus of Perry Wellness Center is filled with display specimens of unique and rarely seen plants. The century cactus is one special plant from which cuttings can be made easily.
PWC founder and CEO Stuart Perry explains, “If we are notified of the desire for cuttings from these larger plants, we can fill the order from a cutting of a larger plant. The new plants are sold only to customers who are familiar with the plant and its expected growth. The customer needs patience and knowledge of care for the new cutting. Please be sure that you really want the plant cutting, and that you will take time for the growing plant.”
Estimates are that a century cactus grows ¼ meter in 1/10 of a century. This translates to less than one foot per decade. Patience is worthwhile, however, as the photo above shows.
