Information sharing is a vital part of Perry Wellness Center’s peer-focused activities. One area in which education is stressed is behavioral health medical care, including the use of medications. Keeping up with such news can provide true health benefits.
One way in which information is shared at PWC is through the posting of YouTube and other videos through the television network. Information on a selected is also chosen for its positivity.
PWC founder and CEO Stuart Perry explains, “We attempt to provide information from many sources that are positive and uplifting. We never know what information may lead peers and staff to a better life.”
Stuart points to an example on the classroom TV screen, concerning a frequently used psychiatric drug, Tezspire, and its potential side effects. We note that most medications have some side effects, from mild to life-threatening, and individuals taking medications should always do so in consultation with a qualified medical provider. In addition, PWC peers are frequently given reminders as needed about their own treatment regimens.
It's all a part of learning self-management and staying healthy!
