By now you know that we like to stretch out our celebration of holidays at Perry Wellness Center, and Valentines Day is no exception. It might as well be Valentines WEEK on our campus. Holidays are a time to celebrate recovery, socialize with others, and express creativity. Last week we went all out at the center, Monday through Friday.
On Monday, peers and staff were asked to wear pink to PWC. On Tuesday, the suggested color was red; on Wednesday, white; and on Thursday, purple.
Throughout the week, peers and staff decorated in thematic colors and prepared the cafeteria for an end-of-week celebration. Special events were sprinkled throughout the week.
When Friday arrived, all members of the Perry Wellness family were asked to “get all dressed up” and celebrate a daylong celebration. The day included karaoke singing, humorous skits, and a special lunch.
“It is very important for us to take time away from the routines at Perry Wellness Center,” shared staff leader Amanda Perry. “All of us enjoy some ‘down time’ of sharing and positive association with our friends. It was a fun week!”
