Warmer spring weather has led to an increase in outdoor sports activities at Perry Wellness Center. Of course, the thermometer is never too high or low to discourage peers and staff from sports and exercise. Whether tennis, running, walking, weight-lifting, or team sports like basketball and volleyball, vigorous physical activity is a centerpiece of peers’ recovery plans.
“This exercise is vital for the total WHAM (Whole Health Action Management) program here at Perry Wellness Center,” explains Noah Cochran, whole health and wellness coordinator and director of groups at the center. “I love to play with these teams and exercise as I learn and demonstrate sports fundamentals.”
Team sports are a particular favorite, as they promote team cooperation as well as friendly competition. As with all sports and exercise, they can also increase physical and emotional resilience, reduce stress, and improve overall health.
