On Saturday, March 26, a group of ten volunteers visited Perry Wellness Center to perform community service. Service volunteers have helped out at the center before, and we were happy to welcome a group back.
The task for this Saturday was to help ready Rudy’s Happy Patch Market for the big spring opening. Under the leadership of market manager Phyllis Smith, the volunteers prepared planting containers and planted a total of 60 tomato plants in buckets for the next round of market crops. The group also helped with general clean-up of the grounds.
The service volunteers were accompanied by a group of Americus law enforcement officers. They included: Paul Lillard, DRC Lite Officer; Terra Cochran, Assistant Chief; Officer Darrell Ambos, and Officer Chris Slocumb, under the direction of Christopher Hall, Chief of the Americus Probation/Parole Office, who was not present for the photo.
Thanks to everyone for your valuable assistance!!
