We’ve referred to our new Christmas Tree Wonderland during this Christmas season, but thought we would share a few more details about its creation and operations. A former Perry Brothers Oil Company storage barn serves as the site for wonderland, filled with Douglas fir trees from Michigan. Staff member and artist Jeff Williams converted the structure for its new purpose with fresh paint and décor.
The converted barn contains not only Christmas trees, but fresh greenery from the trees, offered in three sizes of wreaths, along with swags and floral arrangements. There’s even a throne for Santa! Most delightful is the scent of the fir trees wafting through the area.
Christmas Tree Wonderland manager Doug Larsen describes the process of creating wreaths and greenery swags, with one group of peers cutting greenery to exact lengths and another group forming the shapes. “It is fun to watch cooperation between peers,” Doug says. “The smell and touch of the greenery puts peers and visitors into the Christmas spirit.
“We are proud of this Christmas Tree Wonderland,” says Perry Wellness Center founder and CEO Stuart Perry. “This older building is perfect for our new Christmas Tree Wonderland. The new interior provides customers with a great Christmas season environment. It has been fun to learn as we go in this new venture of offering fresh Christmas trees.” With a smile, Stuart concludes, “We really celebrate Christmas at Perry Wellness Center.”
There’s still time to get a tree, and Christmas Tree Wonderland is open Monday- Saturday from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sundays from 1 – 7 p.m., at 302 East Furlow Street in Americus.
