During the 2017 holiday season, a bright green printed schedule has been a lifesaver in helping everyone at Perry Wellness Center remember special events. Labeled “Important Dates for the Rest of 2017,” the schedule has carried us from Thanksgiving to Christmas during this busy and celebratory time of the year.
To recap, our holiday festivities began with a Thanksgiving lunch on November 21. A few days later, visitors arrived from NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness), followed by the annual Americus Civitan Club Christmas party at the center, with Santa, refreshments, and gift giving.
As we headed into mid-December, we enjoyed a first-place win for our float entry in downtown Americus’ Christmas parade. On December 18, we held our annual Cheer Up the Blues open house on campus, with over 200 visitors from the community, who stopped by for hot refreshments, carols, Santa, and shopping. PWC’s staff Christmas party was held on December 19, as employees took time out from promoting peer activities to enjoy fellowship and a message of appreciation from Stuart and Pam Perry.
Finally, Tuesday, December 21 marked the culmination of a busy party season, as the peer Christmas party was held at the center. Peers exchanged gifts and enjoyed a lasagna lunch with cupcakes for dessert.
As peer gathered in the dining room at Perry Wellness Center, Stuart Perry had a special message for all. “It has been a good holiday season,” he said. “Pam and I appreciate all of our friends and family who have supported and greeted us with encouragement and appreciation for our activity. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”
One final notation on the schedule: Perry Wellness Center will be closed for New Year’s Day, January 1, 2018.
