At the GateWhen asked a common question these days, Stuart Perry gives an answer that is uncommon for him:

“When are Perry Wellness Center and Rudy’s Happy Patch Market opening again?”

“I do not know!”

At this point, Stuart cannot give a date and time for safely welcoming peers, staff, visitors, and customers back to the campus. Daily telephone contact continues with peer, as well as local food delivery. But Stuart is anxious about guaranteeing the safety for all once the campus gates are opened.

“I know that we have customers who want plants and products from Happy Patch. I have people calling about when our mobile market will be in nearby towns,” Stuart explains. “But more than that, we want to come back together to have personal contact with our clients again. Few can realize what they are experiencing with this sudden change in their lives. I feel for our peers and am making contact with many on a daily basis.”

The gardens and grounds of Perry Wellness Center are filled with ripening vegetables and springtime flowers. What is missing, is the excitement of bustling people.

“I wish we were open,” Stuart concludes. “I want everyone to see the color of our corner and enjoy the market again. But we have had deaths in Sumter County, and we cannot overlook the fear and dangers in the minds of our clients and staff.”
