Perry Wellness Center is pleased to announce another community partner in the pop top donation drive for Ronald McDonald House Charities in Columbus, Georgia. Goot Pride Auto Service in nearby Buena Vista, Georgia, recently became the newest collection site for the fund-raising project. Longtime readers know that Perry Wellness Center became involved in the project a few years ago when peer Kaylon Holt began to collect soda can pop tops to donate for recycling. Since that time, the project has grown, with individuals, businesses, and service groups helping in the collection efforts.
Goot Pride Auto Service became involved with the project when PWC staff member and project facilitator Mulkey McMichael chatted with counter staff at the auto center about his travels to the Ronald McDonald House. Jason, the business’ human resources manager, noted that he was saving pop tops for future donation. He passed these on to Mulkey, who included them with the net donation to Ronald McDonald Charities. Now the business has placed a glass collection jar at the front desk of the active car service center.
Mulkey says, “We welcome this new partnership to our collection site family. This happening was a blessing, and I hope that we can take many more collections from Goot Pride.”
Thanks to Goot Pride Auto Service employees such as those pictured below – left to right: Riley, Brooke, Colton, George, and Avara, for joining 21 collection sites in three Southwest Georgia counties that have contributed a total of 2,785,000 pop tops to benefit services to seriously ill children and their families.
