Although Perry Wellness Center remains welcoming to older peer clients, a growing number of younger peers have joined this recovery community. This week, four younger peers discovered a checkerboard card table cover and a set of large checkers. They set up for some lively competition. Paul, pictured in front, set himself up with a good view of the current game when he was not playing. Irvin is pictured at left, in a game with Joel, seated in the far chair, and Patrick also watching.

While Joel enjoyed the checker games, he is setting his sights on something more challenging, saying, “I wish we had a chess set. I have gotten pretty good at that game.”  Until a chess set arrives someday, Joel can flex his board game muscle with his new checkers group.
