Science fiction writers like to talk about “time slips” where a glitch in time seems to occur. At Perry Wellness Center, we just call them holidays. Last month we told our readers about a visit from individuals representing the Dept. of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Services. Groups were visiting in each region of our state behavioral health system, and Perry Wellness Center was asked to host the group for Region 6. Somehow a follow-up article about the “We Are Listening” visit for our region was lost in one of those pesky time slips. Now it has reappeared, and we wanted to highlight some of it, because we like to share positive thoughts about peer services with our community and region.

PWC founder and director Stuart Perry spoke with many professionals around the region, but we were happy to capture the above photo, showing him with two smiling visitors, Ann Riley, left, and Meredith McGowan, right. McGowan, a Behavioral Health Hospital Transition Specialist from Columbus, Georgia, brought a smile to Stuart’s face with these words:

“I have heard about Perry Wellness Center, and now I see what they were all talking about. It is beautiful, and I am sure the efforts by staff for client peers are equally great.” 

We like to think so and are grateful when others point at that the effort shows!
