The beautiful monarch butterfly has long been an endangered species, but thanks to the efforts of preservationists, this story is changing.

The late Rosalynn Carter took a leadership role as a former First Lady and helped establish a butterfly trail in our area, while promoting nationwide efforts.

At the close of a day of bustling activity at Rudy’s Happy Patch Market, a monarch butterfly was spotted -- one of many who seem to enjoy visiting the blooming plants on the Perry Wellness Center campus. As if in tribute to Rosalynn Carter’s advocacy, they seem drawn to this special place that she visited so often.
