When long-time Perry Wellness Center employee Phyllis Smith recently returned to her duties as manager of Rudy’s Happy Patch Market, it was just in time to prepare for the spring market. Intensive effort from peers and staff has been required to get the market ready for the seasonal rush. Phyllis has relocated her office to a space in the market, where many long hours are spent.
Phyllis is not complaining. “It will be fun to continue my job as market manager,” she says. “I want to select the peers who have worked hard for me in the past and put together a team to make the market the best it has been in years.”
One such peer is Nakia Rhone, who has volunteered to help out with the increased activity at the market. A talented needle worker, Nakia even created a new pair of gloves for the occasion. “I want to be ready to help Miss Phyllis with the market,” she explains. “I plan to wear my gloves and do other products for possible display and sale in the market.”
In the photo, Nakia shares her woven gloves with a raised design. Look for products such as these for sale at Rudy’s Happy Patch Market, along with seasonal flowers, plants, and produce.
