Blueberry PlantThe grounds of Perry Wellness Center are lush with growing trees, shrubs, flowers, and raised beds of produce. Peer volunteers, including Vicki Lamica, keep the campus green and blooming with frequent watering during these hot summer months.

During a recent watering session, Vicki was surprised to discover a volunteer plant growing in a barrel planter with an assortment of flowers. She identified it as a blueberry plant. Knowing Stuart Perry’s love of blueberries, she decided to nurture this plant to fruit production.

"I guess too many friends have seen me taking are of this plant,” Vicki notes with a smile fruit production. “The first blueberries are gone. I hope they were good for the picker.”

Ever patient, Vicki continues to water and monitor the young plant, which now contains small, not yet ripe blueberries. Stuart, don’t give up on that blueberry pie just yet!
