Somebody forgot to tell this bold red Amaryllis that it is not blooming time. It was discovered in a remote corner of a greenhouse at Perry Wellness Center. PWC founder and CEO Stuart Perry fancies that the plant was sending a message.

“We have sold many red Amaryllis plants in years past, At Happy Patch,” Stuart explains. “But this plant cannot be discarded. It sprouted with three blooms to tell us that we did not need to discard the plant. We are current out of Amaryllis plants, we will put them back in our inventory next fall.”

Amid the bright blooms of geraniums and other plants, the Amaryllis holds its own pride of place now and holds the promise of other unfolding, beautiful quirks of nature—if one only looks for them.
