Just a reminder that the first Collard and Cornbread Cook-Off  is scheduled for tomorrow, January 26, from 11:00 a.m. –3:00 p.m. at Lenny’s Market in Americus.  The event is sponsored by the Americus Rotary Club and Americus Times-Recorder. 

Perry Wellness Center is entering a professional team into the competition, and we will prepare collards grown on our premises, along with our mouth-watering cornbread recipe.

Admission is only $5 for adults at $2 for children.  Your entry fee will entitle you to sample all the greens entries, as well as cornbread and desserts.  You also can vote for the People’s Choice award – not that we have any suggestions on that count…  All entries will be judged on color, seasoning, texture, aroma, and overall taste.

It promises to be a beautiful day – perfect collard-tasting weather.  We hope to see you there!
