Diamond PaintingEarlier this week, Carrie Ann Cruz and Susan Hull introduced Perry Wellness Center to the world of diamond painting. They presented a painting project as a quiet learning activity. If any readers are unfamiliar with this new painting craze, here is staff member (and retired art teacher) Mulkey McMichael’s take:

“This technique is a modern way of creating by numbers. The early paint by numbers has been replaced with the stylus application of minute crystals that come in a variety of numbered paints. The work is too involved for me, but it is perfect for Carrie and Susan. They are more patient than I am and are pleased with the small progress of their creation. I had never heard of this method, but it is perfect for our creative peers.”

Carrie Ann and Susan laid out a 12” x 36” presentation banner, covered with a design of horses against a background. It is hoped that watching the process and seeing finished panel will encourage others to get an online diamond painting kit and create their own panels. In the photo above, Carrie Ann Cruz, left, and longtime creative peer, Susan Hull, have their creative tools spread out as they get to work on their new project.
