A walk around the grounds of Perry Wellness Center shows how it has evolved over the years, laying out a timeline through its structures and landscaping. Most of these projects were planned and completed by longtime artist and designer Jeff Williams. He often recycles objects in his work, giving them more of a sense of history and also reducing costs.
Jeff explains, “I discard nothing. Most of the structures that I designed transformed to newer constructions. Since my association with Stuart Perry, I have had to learn to save money and still be creative. These larger designs have brought back good memories as I try new designs for the current assignment.” He turned pages of his latest sketchbook as he reviewed past projects.
At the southeast corner of Perry Wellness Center stands the first creation for the Mobile Market program established to deliver fresh market inventory to outlying areas. Another memory: Rudy’s Happy Patch Market, the main market, was named in tribute to former PWC employee and mental health advocate Rudy Hayes. The late friend of PWC was an early supporter of the mental health outreach begun by Stuart Perry.
