Did you know that November is Men’s Health Awareness Month? And did you know that it is also Movember, a global effort to call attention to men’s health issues, including mental illness? When you see a man suddenly growing facial hair during this month, there’s a good chance that his reason is to support the “Gro a Mo” movement. Sporting a “mo” or moustache during the month is meant to show a commitment to men’s health issues.
In recognition of these November efforts on behalf of men’s mental health, we thought we’d provide our readers with a few links to some websites that have valuable information on things you can do to support the efforts and resources for doing so. Movember.This site doesn’t provide information on how to grow a moustache, but it is otherwise filled with helpful information on men’s physical and mental health.
BryLin Hospital. This New York mental health care provider provides a helpful face sheet on men’s mental health, including signs and symptoms of depression and suicidal risk.
Mayo Clinic. The article “Male Depression: Understanding the Issues” examines some of the reasons that men are less likely to seek help and looks out how learning coping skills can help them.
