The effects that can be created through a unique plant material is illustrated in the photo at right. This planting of miniature bamboo was made several years ago on the grounds of Perry Wellness Center.  The strong color of the plant and its straight lines provides some drama to the scene, even as it provides some privacy screening. Its placement turns what has been considered a nuisance plant into a landscaping design highlight.

Visitors are encouraged to stop by Happy Patch Gardens, on the campus of PWC and Rudy’s Happy Patch Market. Stroll northward, and you will see this planting near a reflecting pool and the fern greenhouse.
