Wind Chimes for New Year
As the year ends, it is a custom to ring in the new year with bells. At Perry Wellness Center, we can use wind chimes as a creative alternative.

PWC art instructor Phyllis Smith recently led peers in an art project that involved re-purposing a plant display as a wind chime. She explains, “The plant stand was left in the classroom/office space. It began a discussion in our group on the many uses for the multi-arm stand. All of the class knew that it was designed for our market’s plant display, as our truck travels to several sites for our Mobile Market. We had much discussion about other great uses of mobile plant stands.”

The group eventually came up with the idea of the mobile wind chimes. After gathering paint and cans to complete the project, they set to work. The completed project is now being placed near to main entrance doors to the classroom office building, where it will catch the movement of winter breezes.

Come springtime, it will revert to its original use, as plants from Rudy’s Happy Patch Market hit the road. In the meantime, “ring out the old; ring in the new.” Happy New Year!
