In this last week of “Boost Your Self Esteem Month,” Perry Wellness Center is sharing and reframing some professionals’ tips for enhancing self-esteem in our daily lives. The following information was inspired by Calm Sage:

Practice positive self-talk.

Negative talk breeds greater negativity. Speak positively about (and to) yourself for a sunny emotional boost.

Accept yourself for who you are.

Accepting yourself means “flaws and all.” Focus on making changes that are possible and that you want for yourself, and make room for new skills and interests. And speaking of which –

Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.

Learn pickleball; join a book club; volunteer at a food bank. Opening ourselves to new adventures helps ourselves and often others. The more you enjoy a new experience, the less likely you are to fixate on those perceived flaws

Celebrate yourself.

Light a candle or ring a bell for every victory you achieve, whether large or small. You baked your first cake that didn’t fall? Congratulations!

Practice daily self-care.

Healthy self-esteem thrives best when you take good care of yourself. Regular exercise, healthy eating, sufficient sleep – there are so many ways to build both and emotional and physical strength and resilience.

Which of these tips will you practice today?
