Thought we’d give you another peek at the progress we’re making on our raised bed project, thanks to a grant from Agrium, Inc. Project facilitator Phyllis Smith reported, “This is fun for all of us. Peers are learning to plant and cultivate their own 4’ x 6’ sites.”
As you can see, the plants are coming along well. The campus fence line on East College Street in Americus is now a showplace of thriving vegetables.
“We have classes on why we must fertilize, water, and protect the plants from grass and insects,” Miss Phyllis noted. “I am excited about the success and the ultimate buy-back of their harvest at Rudy’s Happy Patch Market.”
In the above photo, a mini-class is conducted with staff and peers on the routine and schedule for watering newly planted gardens. Pictured are Sonya Mullens, Elizabeth Moss, Kaylon Holt, Laura Leigh Bell, and Ronald Yates.
