PWC transit vanDid you know that Perry Wellness Center has peers coming in each day from seven counties? Although based in Sumter County, the center is a support services hub for individuals throughout Southwest Georgia.

In order to ensure that individuals have safe and dependable transportation each day, Perry Wellness Center now operates its own personal van service. Perry Wellness Center Peer Transport, LLC was established after reliance upon other transportation options proved unsatisfactory.

“Our former transit service was unpredictable,” PWC founder and CEO Stuart Perry explains. “Some of our peers were not picked up or were not at Perry Wellness Center in time for breakfast or to begin a scheduled day. Our personal van service is working better.”

The main challenge of operating a transit system? “We must work to keep the vans in good condition,” says Stuart. With travel over many dirt roads, it is difficult to keep the van fleet clean and ready for inspection. Trained peers assist in keeping the fleet roadworthy. Nate Thomas, shown above, cleans vans after their runs and also checks their fluids to ensure maximum safety and efficiency.
