A repeat customer at Rudy’s Happy Patch Market recently had a reunion of sorts with a Perry Wellness Center staffer while shopping for produce.
Frances Messer stopped by the market on her way out of town. “I am on my way to Cuthbert to visit my sister,” she explained. “I know they have good produce in South Georgia, but I wanted to check with you all and support the mission of Perry Wellness Center.”
Now an Americus resident, Ms. Messer formerly lived in Cuthbert, where she was a regional library director. Although she still owns a home in Cuthbert, she moved here after the death of her husband some four years ago. “I got lonesome and moved to Americus and now enjoy Magnolia Manor.” She is an Independent Living resident there.
Ms. Messer was welcomed by old acquaintance Mulkey McMichael, whom she met while working on the campus of Andrew College. “I worked with Ron DeValenger, and you came by to sell Ron some printing,” she recalled. “Those were fun days in Cuthbert.” She reminisced with Mulkey about those times, and they spoke about his recovery from a serious accident in 1995 and about faith and recovery.
All in all, it was a good day for fresh produce and old memories. Thanks for stopping by, Ms. Messer!
