Two things we love during this holiday season: Rhonda Hubbard and our new mobile market. We recently caught them both in one photo. Rhonda was tidying up in the mobile market and paused for a moment of reflection. We speculate it was about her Christmas wish list!
For our newer readers, first a few words about Rhonda: Having been with Perry Wellness Center for eight years, Rhonda has risen to the role of a peer leader and, informally, “Stuart’s lead advisor.” She is also the head tour guide for the many visitors to PWC, from student interns to mental health advocates to such dignitaries as former First Lady Rosalyn Carter. A strong supporter of Perry Wellness Center, Rosalyn Carter has made several visits to the center and has bought several of Rhonda’s creations at the market. Each time she is greeted by Rhonda first with a handshake, then a hug.
And now for the mobile market: It is actually a reconditioned trailer that Jeff Williams worked both his artistic and practical magic on. It is now a true mobile market that can travel to area festivals and public events. Having attended such events as the annual Andersonville Fair, PWC representatives dealt with the difficult transfer of tables and displays at the events. Now everything will be easily contained in the trailer. More importantly, the mobile market will provide food service and offer market items for sale, such as bedding plants and fresh seasonal vegetables.
Stuart has visited several area fairs to better understand the logistics of mobile food service and to develop what is hoped to be a popular menu. He plans to offer fresh pretzels, a donut factory, funnel cakes, and sandwiches. We can hardly wait to hit the road!
In the meantime, the mobile market will serve hot chocolate and cider during the Christmas tree season. Look for us in the new Christmas Tree Wonderland. And if you need directions, just ask Rhonda.
