Candy Gram DayThis week, Perry Wellness Center celebrated Valentines Days with a special activity to honor friends and loved ones. During the center’s first “Candy Gram Day,” peers and staff ordered from an assortment of gifts – chips, Ring Pop suckers, balloons, and fresh roses, which were then delivered to their Valentines on the big day.

Amanda Perry was in charge of a busy party committee that organized the event, and she was pleased with the response. “It was important to Daddy, Mother, and me that all people get some reminder of our love for these friends.  Peers took the orders, collected payments, and helped us label over 500 gifts. It was a peer-run activity after we planned the event.”

Approximately 121 packages of potato chips, 8 ring pops, 179 balloons, and 161 roses were purchased and delivered, so Candy Gram Day clearly was a success. As Amanda noted, “We had fun, and the peers enjoyed the day. It was fun to see smiles on everyone on campus.”

But the celebration is not over yet. Today, a Valentines talent show and luncheon will be held to complete the festivities. It’s been a busy week for the newly formed party committee, whose other members include Kelly Jansen, Hannah Blaisdell, Chelsea Hodges, Jamaica Colbert, Shanora Robinson, Shanesha Edge, and Kaylon Holt.
