As the weather settles down after Hurricane Michael blew through southwest Georgia, cooler temperatures have followed. Fall garden mums festively decorate the gardens of Perry Wellness Center and Rudy’s Happy Patch Market.

There’s an old expression about “gilding the lily,” used to describe an attempt to improve upon perfection. In our case, we are “painting the mums. ”To further brighten these fall offerings, market associate Faith Curtis is painting the flower pots in shade of blue and yellow. After each pot dries, she will affix a decorative bow. A newly potted mum will then be placed in the pot to create a perfect hanging basket for fall.
