Plant id labelsCreative artist and designer Jeff Williams is hard at work on readying Rudy’s Happy Patch Market for the spring season. Recently, his attention turned to an inexpensive and colorful way to create plant labels.

Jeff takes pride in using his creativity to bring “found” objects to new life. He explains, “I try to be creative with cheaper things that I find. I want to save Perry Wellness Center some money but complete my creative project as I can. It can be a challenge, but most of my savings work and make the finished visual project pleasing to the eye.”

In his latest endeavor, reclaimed three plastic trays from Walmart, sprayed them in Perry Wellness Center’s corporate green, printed labels on plastic sheets with weather-proof inks, and attached these labels to the plastic trays. When the painting was done and the labels were affixed, Jeff attached metal hangers to the plastic trays and bent the metal straps to create a tight display mounting on pipe or with nail attachment.

The talented artist concluded, “These were fun to make, and we can slide them to different locations relative to the plant display.” In the photo above, Jeff makes final adjustments to his plant identification labels, mounted on a railing in the covered pavilion.
