The last few months of the year has so many holidays that they may seem to blur into each other. At Perry Wellness Center, staff and peers have found that, with a little creativity, some of its décor can be updated and used throughout the season.
For example, who says that pumpkins are only for Halloween and Thanksgiving decoration? When staff member Phyllis Smith and peer Amber Cagle put their heads together recently, they came up with a great winter-themed décor using the remaining white pumpkins from Rudy’s Happy Patch Market.
“I love to share creative ideas with peers and ‘think outside the box,’” Miss Phyllis said. When she, along with Amber, spotted the pumpkins, they came up with an ideal way to re-purpose them for the Christmas season – turning them into a trio of welcoming snowmen!
After the pumpkins were stacked into the familiar shapes, Amber designed the facial features and clever hats for the snowmen.
“These lips and other features were fun to plan and attach to our snowmen,” Amber shared.
The three jolly pumpkin snowmen now stand at the south entrance to the market. In the photo above, they pose with Amber Cagle, left, and Phyllis Smith, welcoming all who enter.
