At Perry Wellness Center, group socialization is a critical part of mental health support and recovery. Despite the ongoing threat of COVID-19, peers are encouraged to maintain contact at the center, using masks and social distancing. Through group and one-on-one discussions, peers solve problems, share news, and catch up on activities outside the center.
The south side of the new academic building is now a favorite place to get together. This past Monday, Dorothy Seay, Sonya Mullins, and Anthony Brown found a spot on the patio to chat and share stories of their weekend.
“It is Monday morning, and there is much to catch up on,” Dorothy explained. “We like to enjoy the weather and talk – even through these masks. We try and remain safe.”
Staying safe is the key, as we all look forward to mask-free future days.
