Game Day SetupIn our last few posts, we’ve been sharing information about Labor Day Game Day at Perry Wellness Center. Although the weather didn’t cooperate as much as anticipated, the event took place after weeks of planning and preparation.

Kelly Jansen was the official organizer of the day’s events. He explained, “We were planning to make Labor Day a Game Day at Perry Wellness Center and thought the pleasant temperatures and lower humidity that we had enjoyed the week before would continue.”

No surprise that they did not. After all, it’s Southwest Georgia! With warmer morning temperatures, peers and staff started early to finish construction and place game pieces in the parking lot area of the campus. When the set-up was complete, peers began the challenge of competition with other individuals or in organized teams. Throughout the morning, waiting competitors took their places for volleyball, corn hole, and other games.

At the completion of Game Day, peers and staff enjoyed a traditional Labor Day lunch of barbecued ribs, baked beans, potato salad, and fruit beverages. Fresh air, physical activity, and good food – what more could one ask for on a national holiday?
