Just a few days ago, two members of the extended Perry Wellness family stopped by to visit, and PWC founder and director Stuart Perry had the opportunity to chat with them. Joy Nelson is the sister of Stuart’s wife, Pam Perry, and is grandmother to young Mason, who accompanied her.
During their chat, Miss Joy described the children’s creative interests, especially during holiday season. The commitment to expressing creativity is one that is embraced by the Perrys as well at the bustling peer center.
“I try to have my four grandchildren paint a pumpkin each fall,” she explained. “I had one of the kids ask me last year if they could ‘carve their pumpkin.’ Carving is far more dangerous than painting. We are still at the painting stage, and it is a fun project. All the grandchildren do the work by themselves. I am left to clean up, cap the paint, and clean the brushes.”
