Braggin’ rights for collards, y’all! We’re happy to report that the professional team from Perry Wellness Center won first place in the Goin' Green Collards & Cornbread Cook-Off this past weekend. The team was represented by (l-r): Kenneth Christmas, chief vegetables cook, kitchen manager Kelly Jansen, and Rudy’s Happy Patch Market manager Phyllis Bleckley.
In the weeks before the event, everyone at PWC enjoyed the process of vetting the best recipe for entry in the competition, as various samples were taste-tested in the center cafeteria.
A large number of peer members were on hand to sample the winning entry, as well as those of other entrants. It was a fun day for everyone, with live music, food sampling, and lots of community spirit in the air.
And a little healthy competition just makes everything taste just a little better. As Kenneth (CJ) says, “We love to win as a team at Perry Wellness Center!”
