At Perry Wellness Center, we are lucky to have wonderful community volunteers who bring their skills and experience to meet a variety of needs. We are particularly pleased to have the assistance of Manson Markette, an acclaimed landscape designer and long-time owner of Markette Nursery.
Having a soothing and green environment is important to us at PWC, and we’ve been gradually turning a formally barren industrial plat into a lush landscape. Carved into our learning campus are shaded walking paths, a meditative park, numerous flower beds, and greenhouses which provide plants and vegetables for both sale and campus use.
Mr. Markette has brought his expertise to our efforts, and the results are already showing. Additioal work has begun on Hope Park, and peer clients are being trained in the fine art of plant propagation. We’re also lucky to have a horticulture student intern, George Windham, at the center, and the pair work together in a concerted effort to make the campus better.
